The National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA), Department of Health Promotion and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases, opems a call for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship - 1 vacancy - to candidates (M/F) with a PhD, under the Projet “Personalizing diagnosis and treatment for Familial Hypercholesterolaemia patients” (Reference HR23-00749)” reference HR23-00749, funded by the La caixa Foundation.

Admission Requirements:

• Ph.D. completed less than 3 years from the application deadline or obtain a doctoral degree by August 30, 2024
• A minimum of 3 years experience in molecular/celular biology
• Available to do a trainship of 3-6 months in Helsinki, Finland
Preferred Requirements:
• Previous experience in molecular biology
• Previous experience in cell culture
• Good knowledge on english language (written and oral);
• Good skills on relationship, communication and teamwork;
• Immediate availability.

Additional Information
The monthly value corresponds to 1801,00€ (one thousand eight hundred and one euros), in accordance with the current value of the scholarships awarded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. The amount of the Voluntary Social Insurance is also added to this amount, and a Worker's Compensation Insurance is paid.

Selection Methods:
Candidates who do not meet the mandatory requirements listed above will be excluded. Candidates who do not present a graduation certificate will also be excluded.
The evaluation will include two phases: curriculum evaluation and interview. The curricular evaluation will focus on the assessment of (1) academic training, (2) professional experience, (3) professional training and (4) scientific activity in the health area, with the curricular evaluation being carried out with a rating from 0 to 20. Whenever there are doubts regarding the required training and experience, the Jury may request additional supporting documentation. Subsequently, candidates who receive, in this first assessment, a rating of no less than 12 points, on a scale of 0 to 20 points, will be called for an interview to assess their knowledge and skills. The weighting for the final assessment will be 50% for the curricular evaluation and 50% for the interview.
Work plan:
1. Maintain cell cultures
2. Splicing studies by minigenes using real time PCR
3. Study of missense variants in LDLR by in vitro mutagenesis and analysis by flow cytometry
4. Drug screening using confocal microscopy assays and automated image analysis with CellProfiller and automated data analysis in Python
5. Collaborate in the preparation of communications of results in scientific meetings and in the writing of scientific reports, abstracts and articles.
