Post doctoral position available within the SUPPORT project funded by EDCTP 3 action Supporting the next generation of African researchers on preventing HIV pediatric mortality through a training network a highly multidisciplinary, international and competitive training program in pediatrics research
RESEARCH PROJECT LABORATORY MANAGEMENT AND COLONIZATION OF MULTIDRUG
RESISTANT BACTERIA
The SUPPORT project includes various studies that aim to understand and improve post-discharge mortality in infants and children living with HIV. The purpose of this postdoctoral fellowship is to coordinate and support all the laboratory activities of the project: develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for laboratory activities, supervise the collect and storage of samples, and perform the analysis of the samples. The post-doctoral fellow will in addition lead a research project which will assess whether exposure to multidrug resistant organisms during admission, lead to infections and subsequent morbidity and mortality post-discharge.

•Hold a PhD in a relevant field (preferably infectious disease diagnostics or multidrug resistance bacteria)
•Candidates must have experience of working in a medical microbiology lab and running bacterial cultures and molecular diagnostics.
•Proficiency in English and Portuguese (oral and written) is mandatory (an interview in English will be conducted during the recruitment process)
•Willingness to work for at least two years in a Sub-Saharan African country after the end of the post-doctoral contract
•Be a citizen or resident of a Sub-Saharan African country

Additional Information
•A 24-month full time post-doctoral contract to undertake at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane Faculdade de Medicina (Maputo, Mozambique)
•A competitive gross salary according to the Marie Sklodowska-Curie training network tables taking into account family status and mobility (gross salary including employer’s social contribution and without family allowance: 3,642.36€/Month)
•Integration in a network composed of 14 European and African institutions specialized in pediatrics
•A 3-month secondment at University of Lincoln (Lincoln, UK)
•An extensive multidisciplinary training in research and transferable skills
•Access to state-of-the-art research and laboratory infrastructures
