Offer Description
The Director of the Center for Theoretical Physics PAS announces a competition for one post-doctoral researcher position in computational cosmology at the Center for Theoretical Physics PAS (CTP PAS) in Warsaw, Poland. The position is part of the research project SONATA 19 PAIRS: Pairwise Velocities in the Context of the Cosmic Web, funded by the National Science Center (project registration number: 2023/51/D/ST9/02919). The project is led by Dr. Mariana Jaber.
This research programme aims to extract valuable information from galaxy velocities and their spatial distribution within the cosmic web. The primary objective is to derive robust, indepenent constraints for key cosmological parameters. This involves predicting the relative infall mtions of galaxy pairs using a unique combination of analytical and numerical templates.
The salary will be higher than the usual Polish post-doc rate and will amount to 117 000PLN (~27 000 EUR) per annum (before taxes and social security contribution). There is also a dedicated travel budget of 2500 EUR per year and 2500 EUR for personal computing equipment.
