Offer Description
Persons interested in applying for the postdoc position are
invited to electronically submit the following documents (PDF
format only):
Statement of interest, describing the applicant’s own
research interests and how they relate to the POLPAN project
(3000-5000 characters);
CV in English including the following points, as
applicable:
Completed education; work history; scientific publications;
manuscripts under review; participation in the implementation
of national and/or international research grants; awards for
scientific activity (e.g., scholarships, fellowships, academic
exchanges); other skills relevant to the project.
An English-language scientific publication (either an
article in a peer-reviewed journal or a chapter in a monograph
released by a prestigious publishing house; if the publication is
co-authored, the applicant should be the lead author).
Two letters of reference by researchers working in
different units.
In the case of applicants who expect to receive their PhD
degree within 3 months after employment in the project, a
letter from their PhD supervisor as to the schedule for
completion, and a letter from their school/department
describing the status of fulfilling the requirements for
completing the PhD program.
Submission of incomplete documentation is the basis for
rejection of the application during the formal assessment.
Description of tasks:
The tasks of the Postdoc researcher will include, among other
related tasks:
Conduct advanced statistical analyses of the POLPAN
1988-2023 data addressing both substantive and
methodological research questions
Produce articles to send to Web of Science listed, high
visibility scientific publication outlets
Collaborate with POLPAN Graduate Research assistants
and other team members on preparing grant products
Assist in running the POLPAN Lab,
https://groups.io/g/polpanlab, as a discussion forum for
researchers specializing in substantive and methodological
issues of panel data and panel analyses
Participate in team meetings and the POLPAN seminars
Assist PIs in realizing the POLPAN concluding
conference
Disseminate POLPAN-based research through publicly
available results and at scientific meetings
Assist in popular dissemination of research results,
including social media outreach.

Social sciences, quantitative research methods, advanced

Verified on the basis of the submitted application [in English]
and during the personal interview:
Completed a PhD in Sociology, Political Science,
Statistics, Economics or a related field within 7 years before
employment in the project. This period may be extended pursuant
to the terms laid down in the Types of costs in research projects
funded by the NCN.
Experience conducting substantive research relevant to the
project.
Experience with statistical methods for longitudinal data
analysis, including event history and survival analysis.
Proficiency in STATA/R.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken
and written (at the level of min. C1).
Team oriented with good communication skills.
Demonstrable experience with managing large datasets,
including survey projects, constitutes an advantage. So do good
communication skills in Polish.

The selection of candidates will take place in two stages. In the first stage, the Selection Committee
will apprise the completeness of application packages on formal grounds, and make a preliminary
assessment of candidates on the basis of submitted documents.
Up to four of the highest rated candidates will be invited to a personal interview. The personal
interviews, to be conducted in English and lasting up to 30 minutes, constitute the second stage of
the competition. Interviews will be scheduled for: October 22-24, 2024 via zoom or at IFiS’
headquarters.
