Applications are invited for temporary posts of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 x 2 within UCD School of Civil Engineering

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transport Modelling Researcher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field, with expertise in transport modelling and analysis, as well as a keen interest in resilience, mitigation, and adaptation strategies for transportation systems.
In particular, the post-doctoral research fellow will focus on the development of innovative methodologies to evaluate resilience of transport systems.
The post-doctoral researcher is expected to develop high level deliverables an scientific pares for the project and to collaborate in the day to day and reporting activities of the project.
The appointee to this post will also support other research and tasks being done in the project and will provide support on the research activities within the project(s).
The current projects of the group are in the several areas of transport including:
* Smart transport systems: Explore the exciting intersection of transportation and digital technologies, leveraging data analytics, machine learning, and IoT to revolutionize the way we plan, manage, and optimize transportation systems.
* Transport Resilience: Investigate the resilience of transportation systems to various disruptions, including natural disasters, climate change, and technological shifts, and develop strategies to improve system robustness and adaptability.
* Transport Modelling: Apply advanced modelling techniques to analyse and forecast transportation demand, develop efficient routing algorithms, and enhance transport network design for sustainable urban mobility.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
Fixed Salary: €44,347 per annum
