Offer Description
The Department of Forest- and Soil Sciences, Institute of Forest Engineering - Human-Centered AI Lab is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: as of now, limited to 6 years
Workplace: Vienna/Tulln
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.752,30
Responsibilities:
- Independent research and further development in the field
- of Digital Transformation with ML and AI in response to
- challenges in smart farm and forest operations of the future
- Active participation in the preparation and presentation of scientific publications
- Interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary collaboration and cooperation with domain experts
- Active problem-solving with AI in the agriculture and forestry of the future
- Support in the supervision of doctoral, master's and bachelor's students
- Involvement in teaching data science and AI for beginners
- Active in administrative activities of the insitute and lab
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctorate degree/PhD incomputer science or equivalent
- Diploma degree in computer science or other equivalent university degree
- Language skills: German and English
- Very good programming skills in Python
- Solid knowledge in the field of data science and machine learining/AI
- Willingness to work in interdisciplinary teams and ability to collaborate with domain experts
- Proof of publication activity
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Interest in interdisciplinary scientific research and further
- development ofAI technologies with application to digital
- transformation in smart farm and forest operations
- Practical experience in machine learning (ML) and AI methods
- Interest in data science, sensor technology (LiDAR, 3D PCD, etc. ) and in human-robot interaction
- Didactic skills to inspire and educate the next generation of BOKU students
- High social competence to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams together with domain experts
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in an understandable and simple way
- Flexibility and communication skills, also with non-AI experts
