Offer Description
The BSRC Alexander Fleming is seeking a motivated bioinformatician to lead the bioinformatics activities of its Genomics and Precision Medicine Facility. The Unit develops, maintains and supports robust bioinformatics workflows for the unit’s offerings, which are centered on high-throughput, genome-wide research and diagnostic activities (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, whole exome-seq, gene panel sequencing, targeted sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, etc., https://www.fleming.gr/genomics-next-gen-sequencing). We seek candidates with significant experience in the application and development of the above computational technologies coupled with passion for robust, repeatable and well-documented research.
Candidates must hold a PhD in Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics/Statistics or related fields. Alternatively, an MSc with at least 3 years of experience in bioinformatics is acceptable. Applicants, should have a proven track record in computational analysis of big biological data and hands-on experience in analyzing data from NGS technologies. Expertise in planning, executing and maintaining related bioinformatics workflows is essential. Experience in participating similar activities at comparable facilities will be considered an asset.
