The Faculty of Psychotherapy Science at SFU is a multifaceted institution dedicated to the education and professional development of future psychotherapists. With locations in Vienna, Linz, Berlin, Ljubljana, and Paris, the faculty offers education and training across different European countries. Actively engaged in research, the faculty contributes to the advancement of psychotherapeutic knowledge and practices through rigorous scholarly activities. Each location also operates outpatient clinics where patients receive comprehensive care, ensuring that research and teaching are closely integrated.



The Faculty of Psychotherapy Science of Sigmund Freud University Vienna wishes to appoint to the post of Professor of Psychotherapy Research at the University Branch in Ljubljana.



In full employment (permanent position), starting 01.10.2024.

Teaching



As our new Full-Professor, you will be a role model and a key member of the Sigmund Freud University branch in Ljubljana. You will be participating in teaching in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Psychotherapy Science in your areas of expertise. The courses will include extensive lectures, smaller seminars, and individual supervision of research internships and thesis projects, as well as general coordination and administrative tasks. Furthermore, you will be tasked with developing an English-language psychotherapy programme alongside the existing Slovenian programme and will work closely with the Faculty Management in Vienna to develop the Ljubljana branch.



Research



We expect you to have established research expertise in an area of psychotherapy research. The ideal candidate recognises the critical importance of linking research on individual differences to societal conditions and implications, utilising sophisticated methodologies to ensure findings have real-world relevance and impact. Experience in both quantitative and qualitative research is required.



The core tasks include:

• Establishing the English-language Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at the Ljubljana branch

• Representation of the subject in research and teaching

• Promoting young academics and supervising theses on all levels (bachelor, master and PhD)

• Implementation of basic and specified lectures in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes of Psychotherapy Science as well as participation in the doctoral program of Psychotherapy Science

• Participation in university management further developing the Ljubljana branch within the Faculty of Psychotherapy Science

• Developing research strategies and spearheading future research projects at the Ljubljana branch within the Faculty of Psychotherapy Science

• Initiating and contributing to the acquisition of significant external research funding to support the research profile to be developed at the Ljubljana branch within the Faculty of Psychotherapy Science



Specific Requirements:

• PhD and Postdoctoral qualification (or equivalence) in a relevant field related to Psychotherapy Science

• Excellent research qualification in the field of Psychotherapy Science

• Proven by internationally competitive research and publication performance

• Relevant university teaching experience in English

• Leadership skills, communication skills and excellent teamwork skills

• Experience in curriculum development

• Experience in organizational leadership

• A track record of international and cross-cultural competence

• A clear vision on future developments in the respective fields of research

• An extensive national and international academic network

• Fluent English Language (both written and spoken) (main operational language), and ideally Slovenian language skills



For this position, we offer a gross annual salary of € 60,000 on a full-time basis with a willingness to overpay with appropriate qualifications/experience.



It is required that the future full-professor will move their work centre to Ljubljana (including close work relation with the Faculty of Psychotherapy Science in Vienna).
