Offer Description

The BOKU Core Facilities, Bioactive Molecules Sreening and Analysis is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Senior Scientist).

Extent of employment:         25 hours per week

Duration of employment:      from now on - unlimited

Workplace: 3430 Tulln

Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 2.970,20

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out, evaluating and interpreting chemical analyses
  • Publishable, sustainable and comprehensive processing of analysis data
  • Method development to expand the analytical portfolio of the Core Facility BMoSA
  • Ad hoc method development to open up new analytical territory if necessary
  • Refinements and deepening of established analytical methods
  • Exploring the possibilities of BMoSA instruments to enable new analyses
  • Continuous training through national and international meetings and relevant literature
  • Commissioning, support and preventive maintenance of the core facility infrastructure
  • Enrollment and training of device users, administration and handling of core facility internal processes using a device booking system
  • Support in the implementation of courses, public relations and marketing activities

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree / PhD in Analytical Chemistry and Metabolomics
  • Language skills: fluent in written an spoken German and English
  • Sound laboratory experience in the field of small molecule
    analysis in different sample types (plants, microorganisms,
    etc)
  • Solid knowledge and experience in the field of instrumental analysis: Application of various analytical techniques evaluation and interpretation of results
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of chromatography and mass spectrometry
  • Active scientific publishing in the field of analysis of secondary metabolites
  • Participation in research projects

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Experience with infrared spectroscopy
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and good understanding o lT
  • Basic knowledge and experience in statistics
  • Ability to work in a team. accuracy, communication and organisational skills, sense of responsibility and reliability
  • Experience in the use of user software for analytical instruments (LC-HRMS, etc)
  • Experience in the field of analytical quality assurance
  • Experience with training in laboratory operations
