Offer Description
The Department of Economics and Social Sciences, Institute of Sustainable Economic Development is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 10 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of October 2024, limited to 30th of September 2026
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 1.188,10
Responsibilities:
- Independent research in the field of rural development with forcus on on institutional theory, collective action and adaptive governance of socio-ecological systems and in the context of transnational, inter- and transdisciplinary research projects
- Publication activity, preferably in international journals
- Submission, implementation and administration of third-party funded, competitively acquired, national and international research proects with strong interdiciplinary components
- Teaching in German and English the field of rural development
- Co-supervision of master and doctoral students
- Representation of the field of rural development at national and international level
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctorate degree / PhD in the field of rural development
- Completed relevant master's degree
- Experience in inter- and transdisciplinary research in rural areas with a special focus on institutional theory, collective action and adaptive governance of socio-ecological systems
- Experience in the application of qualitative and quantitative methods in the social sciences, mixed-methods approaches and inter- and transdisciplinary methods
- Teaching in the field of rural development
- Experience in the co-supervision of master and doctoral students
- Experience in the acquisition, management and realisation of research projects
- Proof of relevant publications in international journals
Desired skills and qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of the theories of disposal rights, transaction costs and common goods
- Experience in the communication with target groups outside academia
- Experience in the coordination of international collaborations
- Experience in the use of various qualitative and quantitative data analysis software
- International research stays
