Offer Description
[EN] The Gly-CRRET lab is a research team of the University of Paris Est Créteil Val de Marne, specialized in structural characterization of Glycosaminoglycans (GAG) that are complex sugar from the Extracellular Matrix, and in the demonstration of their functional implications in pathophysiology of age-related degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer(Pr. D. Papy-Garcia’s team) and Osteoarthritis (Pr. P. Albanese’s team). In this context, Gly-CRRET is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher on a 1-year contract in order to characterize and compare glycanic structures of heparan sulfates (HS) in 2 major osteoarticular pathologies, namely osteoarthritis. (OA: the most common osteoarticular disease affecting more than 15% of the population) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA: the most common chronic inflammatory rheumatism with a prevalence of 0.5% of the adult population).

- PhD or equivalent
Candidate are PhD, with classic skills in cell biology, molecular biology as well as biochemistry, and expertise in inflammatory processes. Skills in the field of osteoarticular pathologies is recommended, and in the field of extracellular matrix is a “plus”. Candidates must, however, demonstrate a certain interest in the extracellular matrix. Rigor and teamworking skills are essential. In addition to their research mission, candidate will have the possibility to provide teaching sessions to Master and Bachelor students from UPEC Sciences and Technology faculty, and to supervise undergraduate students. This project will allow the candidate to acquire original scientific expertise in glycobiology and to develop transversal skills (pedagogy and research) required to successfully pursue an academic career.

Additional Information
Send your CV, application letter and contact/referent details to: albanese@u-pec.fr before September 15. An interview will be offered to you as soon as possible. Recruitment planned for October 2024.
MISSIONS :
P. Albanese's team hypothesis is that HS specific differences could not only reflect different matrix degradation between degenerative (OA) and inflammatory (RA) pathology, but also play a role in the pathophysiology of these 2 osteoarticular models, and in particular in local inflammatory processes associated with structural damage. The recruited researcher will have access to synovial fluid samples from patients from Rheumatology department of the Creteil Henri Mondor hospital(Pr. F. Eymard). He/she will carry out a complete comparative study of the quantitative, structural and functional characteristics of GAG in the knee synovial fluid of OA and RA patients. He/she will look for correlations between these glycan characteristics and patients' demographic, clinical, biological and radiographic data. Finally, he/she will identify glycanic targets involved in common and/or specific inflammatory processes of the two pathologies, and their respective signaling pathways. He:she will benefit from all the tools of cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry, of the Glycomic platform as well as the expertise of the teachers and university hospital researchers at Gly-CRRET. This research project received funding from Novartis.
