Offer Description
Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies, with the approval of the Rector of University of Warsaw announces a competition for a position of a senior assistant in the group of the research and teaching staff, in the fields of social and economic geography and spatial management, and history (WGSR _K3_2024) in the Chair of Regional and Political Geography, full-time position for an indefinite period. The competition is looking for a specialist in historical geography.
Candidates have to meet conditions defined in the 20.07.2018 Law on higher education and science (DZ.U. from year 2023 position no. 742) as well as the Statue of the University of Warsaw (UW Monitor from year 2019, position no. 190, with subsequent changes).
Requirements
• PhD in social and economic geography and spatial management or in history,
• participation in at least 2 research projects financed from external funds (NCN, NPRH)
in the last 5 years, including at least once as a manager,
• at least one year of employment in research or research and teaching at a Polish research university
or in a foreign research institution,
• publications on history or historical geography in publishing houses and journals published
in the official ministerial list (the author's monograph will be an additional advantage of the application),
• proven participation in national and international scientific conferences,
• proven experience in teaching students in the field of historical geography,
• knowledge of Polish and English, knowledge of Latin desirable.
Responsibilities related to the position
• teaching and educating of students (in Polish),
• preparing and conducting exams, colloquiums and tests,
• conducting research on topics implemented at the University and related to the Candidate’s own scientific development, as well as publishing their results with an affiliation of the University of Warsaw,
• preparation of scientific monographs and scientific articles (individual and co-authored) for high-rated scientific journals,
• organization and participation in scientific conferences and symposia,
• active participation in the academic life of the University, cooperation with representatives of other research centers in the country and abroad,
• making efforts to obtain funds for scientific research.

Selected candidates may be invited for an interview (in person or remotely). The invitation, as well as the information on the final results, will be sent by email.
The decision on the results of the competition will be made by September 27, 2024.
