The objective of this initiative is to develop novel first-principles calculation methods for large-scale molecular systems under strong electric fields.
The funding for this project is provided by a KAKENHI program administered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (MEXT).

[Work content and job description]
This project will perform the following computational physics and chemistry studies on fullerene molecules adsorbed on tungsten surfaces, where field emission occurs.
(1) Molecular dynamics simulations using empirical and/or machine learning intermolecular potentials
(2) First-principles electronic structure calculations of metal surfaces using the DFT calculation programs, such as Quantum ESPRESSO and SIESTA
(3) Molecular orbital calculations for fullerenes adsorbed on a tungsten surface, along with simulations to reproduce field emission microscope images using the simulated molecular orbitals
