Offer Description

ABOUT PRISMAS

PRISMAS - PhD Research and Innovation in Synchrotron Methods and Applications in Sweden – is a new doctoral network, training the next generation of 40 leading synchrotron experts and offering them opportunities for the development of their research careers, leading to the development of new solutions to the existing societal challenges (PRISMAS-overview).

PRISMAS contains unique novelties, such as the common transparent selection process among all implementing partners, a new customised training programme as well as the ambitious hands-on training in synchrotron techniques, enabled by a mandatory secondment at MAX IV Laboratory and exceptional networking opportunities. The project is co-funded by the Horizon Europe MSCA COFUND Programme. The interdisciplinary and intersectorial project consortium consists of 9 Swedish Universities as implementing partners and host for the PRISMAS fellows as well as about 43 associated partners both from industry and academia.

In this third recruitment call, 5 PRISMAS positions are open for application.

WHAT WE OFFER

PRISMAS offers a broad portfolio of PhD projects tackling six different research areas (healthy planet, healthy people, clean energy, sustainable technologies, accelerator science and cultural heritage) (https://www.maxiv.lu.se/education-outreach/programs-and-activities/prismas/for-applicants/research-projects/). As a PRISMAS PhD student, you will have the chance to conduct cutting-edge research in your field, taking advantage of state of the art tools that will lead to attractive future job opportunities in academia or industry. Moreover, you are part of designing the future of synchrotron technology and instrumentation and using these to tackle some of the most significant global challenges the world faces today while acquiring interdisciplinary and intersectoral knowledge. Being part of the PRISMAS programme gives you the one-of-a-kind experience in form of a secondment at the world´s first 4th generation synchrotron, MAX IV in Lund, Sweden. You will get the opportunity to learn from experts in the field, network among each other across science areas, and will act as ambassadors to bridge between the facility, universities and industrial partners in the project.

With a tailored training programme, including courses to build scientific and technical competence as well as strengthen transferrable skills, PRISMAS provides you with the skills, knowledge and competence needed to successfully achieve your doctoral degree.

The MSCA COFUND project PRISMAS offers you outstanding opportunities as well as a stimulating and inspiring environment for performing cutting-edge research. By supporting your mobility, it creates perfect conditions for strengthening your international network.

As a PRISMAS student you will be paid a monthly salary in Swedish crowns as per agreement with the Unions. The salary will increase gradually during the 4-years employment and result in an average salary of approximately 3000€. This is aligned with the institutes’ general salary ladder and increases.
