Focused on LBAs in six European countries, including Germany, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Romania and Spain, the Re-Place project aims to: i) develop empirical tools - namely a typology and a representative online survey - to advance the understanding of development and mobility trajectories; ii) focus on 12 areas in 6 countries to examine (i)mobility factors and movements to and from different types of LBAs, assessing the consequent spatial, economic, social and cultural transformations; iii) qualitatively examine the perceptions and livelihood practices of (i)mobile residents in various domains of life; iv) co-create place-based policies to enhance the benefits of mobility and alternative local development through living labs in villages and the development of a policy toolbox; and v) reshape existing narratives about LBAs to strengthen residents' and newcomers' sense of belonging, using co-production and visual methodologies.
