The Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo is the largest legal academic research community in Norway. The objective of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree. The candidate must be qualified for admission to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Law. 

Applicants must submit a project description of 5-7 pages, which gives an account of the research project, its contribution and relevance to legal science, choice of theory and scientific methodology, possible scientific ethical challenges, and a work plan for completion.

PhD-projects that relate to key legal subjects will be prioritized. Key legal subjects are here defined as subjects included in the Faculty’s five year master’s programme in law. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on the societal and legal relevance and significance of the project. The project may deal with Norwegian law, international law with relevance to Norwegian conditions or comparative law where Norwegian law is included in the comparison.
