Offer Description

Our team studies the neural bases of memory formation and consolidation, using freely moving rodents as an experimental model. The candidate will be involved (supervision and participation) in the analytical and experimental phases of studies aimed at characterizing brain dynamics during performance of memory tasks and during sleep.

Main Activities:
- Supervise and perform complex mathematical and statistical data analysis
- Supervise and perform electrophysiological recordings in freely moving rodents during learning and sleep
- Write scientific articles, present results (conferences and posters)
- Bibliographic monitoring

Secondary Activities:
- Supervise PhD students: supervise and guide them in their research activities
- Organize data management and preprocessing (spike sorting)

The CIRB comes under three institutions (Collège de France, CNRS, Inserm) and includes Departments of Neuroscience, Cellular Biology and Development, and Ecology and Evolution. The position will be hosted in the team Brain Rhythms and Neural Coding of Memory in the Neuroscience Department. To study the neural bases of cognitive functions in rodents (in particular spatial memory), it is necessary to record brain activity as animals are involved in complex behavioral tasks. We use massively parallel recording systems to monitor large neural ensembles, and we study their dynamics using advanced mathematical and statistical tools.
