Institute of Experimental Psychology, Center of Social and Psychological Sciences, Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava opens a call for the post-doctoral research post in psychology to begin September 2024.
Application deadline: 29/07/2024
Employment contract: 12 months (full-time, with possible extension up to a permanent position)
Whom are we looking for?
Applicants should have a PhD degree in Psychology or a related field. Further requirements are excellent oral and written skills in English, solid methodological and statistical knowledge, and a dedication to scientific research. Preference will be given to scholars who conduct research that would support one of our existing areas of focus (see https://psychologia.sav.sk/en/projects/) and with a good publication record.

The Institute of Experimental Psychology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is a leading research institution in Slovakia, specializing in diverse psychological fields such as political and social polarization, conspiracy theories, disinformation, social norms, environmental behaviour, and health. It conducts in-depth studies to understand and address these issues, providing valuable insights and practical solutions to societal challenges.
The key research areas at the Institute of Experimental Psychology include:
Conspiracy Theories: Investigating personality, cognitive, social and structural factors (like uncertainty and institutional trust).
Political and Social Polarization: Examining the impact of political orientation on moral values and adoption of conspiracy theories.
Mitigating Disinformation: Debunking and pre-bunking strategies, social norms perceptions, interaction with moral foundations
Environmental Behaviour: Understanding psychological barriers to climate policy support.
Health: Studying the long-term effects of COVID-19 and emotional regulation in healthcare.
The position is research-oriented with no teaching requirements. Although the current position is for one year, there is a possibility to switch to a permanent position in future.
Salary
Gross salary from €1300 to €1600 per month (depending on experience) + reward bonus (depending on achievement). Non-monetary benefits include psychologically safe and supportive work environment and 40 days of paid vacation.
