Job description

Syrén's research group is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow in polymer chemistry. The research funded by FORMAS has the main objective of developing methods to enable valorization of currently non-recyclable materials under mild conditions and with high selectivity. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of potentially revolutionary polymer chemistry methods at the forefront of green chemistry.

The postdoctoral fellow's duties include:

• Chemical synthesis and analysis of building blocks

• Materials synthesis, depolymerization and characterization, including biomaterials

• Research conducted in the area is conducted at low TRL levels, i.e. below 4, which means that the research is of a fundamental nature.

• Actively contribute to the research group's activities, for example by supervising bachelor's/master's students

The research will then be presented at international conferences and in international peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Scientific skill with relevant doctorate, ie with experience in material science.
  • Good knowledge of English in speech and writing is necessary to publish and present research results in international conferences and journals.
  • Further experience of organic chemistry.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of imine chemistry, analytical chemistry and organic chemistry are an advantage
  • Research expertise

About the employment
