The Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Hazards, Institute of Geotechnical Engineering is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (project employment).

Extent of employment:         40 hours per week

Duration of employment:      1^st of October 2024, limited to 30^th of September 2026

                                             (with the possibility of temporary extension for 1 year)

Workplace: 1180 Vienna, Feistmantelstraße 4

Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.752,30

Responsibilities

• Carry out research work, numerical and experimental work
• Prepare research reports and document research results
• Prepare publications in conferences and peer-reviewed journals

Required skills and qualifications

• Doctorate degree / PhD in civil engineering or physics
• Language skills: English (oral and written)

Desirable skills and qualifications

• Solid background in continuum mechanics
• Experience with numerical simulation particularly particle based methods
• Experience with advanced laboratory testing skills
