Offer Description
A PhD position is available in the lab of Lara Bardi at the Department of Experimental Psychology (https://bardilab.com/) at Ghent University (Belgium). Our Social & Cognitive Neuroscience Lab is interested in understanding how environmental cues and/or the presence of others influence our behavior.
The PhD project aims to uncover the neuro-cognitive mechanisms of how social interaction affects individual cognition (i.e., how the presence of others influences the way we perceive the world around us and act on it) We will use behavioral tasks (e.g., Theory of Mind, Perspective taking) and different methods, such as EEG, fMRI and TMS. The position is funded by an FWO Odysseus grant to Lara Bardi. The project is in collaboration with Roeljan Wiersema (Department of Experimental Health Psychology, UGent).
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with, possibly, previous experience in conducting research projects in neuroscience or experimental psychology. Good English writing and communication skills are required.
The successful applicant will be responsible for experimental design, data collection and analysis, writing papers in English and conference presentations. She/he will be required to participate in a PhD training program and write a PhD dissertation. The successful applicant will also be invited to apply to his/her own grants (FWO doctoral fellowship, BOF doctoral grant). Moreover, the PhD student will be involved in the supervision of master and internship students.
The full-time PhD Fellowship will be consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which-upon positive evaluation-will be extended to a maximum of 48 months in total. Click here for more information about the PhD fellowship.
The starting date of the contract will be determined in mutual agreement but should not be later than October 2024.
