Competition for the position of assistant professor at the Department of Graphics, Faculty of Arts

at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice

Acting pursuant to Art. 119 of the Act of July 20, 2018, Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Competition Regulations constituting Annex No. 6 to the Statute of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice

Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice, prof. Ph.D. Grzegorz Hańderek announces a competition for the position of assistant professor in the group of research and teaching staff at the Department of Graphics in the Digital Graphics Studio.

I. The competition may be entered by persons who meet the requirements specified in the Law on Higher Education and Science and submit a declaration that:

● have not been punished with a disciplinary penalty referred to in Art. 276 section 1 point 7 and 8 of the Law on Higher Education and Science,

● have full legal capacity,

● enjoy full public rights,

● have not been convicted by a final court judgment of an intentional crime or an intentional fiscal crime,

● meet the requirements of Art. 113 of the above-mentioned act.

II.  Conditions of participation in the competition:

1. Possession of a doctor of art degree in the discipline of fine arts and conservation of works of art,

2. Conducting scientific and artistic activities,

3. Experience in the field of digital techniques:

- professional experience in working with 2D and 3D images in the field of artistic graphics

   and graphic design with projects documented in the portfolio,

 - support for Adobe graphics and multimedia programs along with documented ones

   in the portfolio of projects,

- knowledge of the 3D environment, including Blender software,

- ability to thrive in the areas of 2D, 3D graphics and their hybrid; welcome

  implementation of visualizations and installations for artistic events, e.g. performances and

  concerts, and an experiment in the ability to create spaces parameterized with strong emphasis on

  the integration of movement and sound.

4. Working with moving images and audiovisual forms in real time:

- animation and post-production in After Effects, documented in the portfolio realizations,

- video editing in Adobe Premiere and documented in the portfolio realizations,

- experience in audio/music production documented in the portfolio realizations.

5. Practical and theoretical knowledge of the following issues: generative art, immersion (virtua

    reality), interactive art, internet art, motion graphics, music visualization, computer graphics, new

    media art, mapping, electronic music, generative music, etc.

6. Having general experience in the field of artistic / workshop graphics.

7. Experience in organizing exhibitions and workshops.

8. Knowledge of English at B2 level. 

III. Required documents:

1. Application for participation in the competition.

2. Curriculum vitae (CV) containing:

– information about current teaching activities,

– information about current scientific and artistic activities:

a. list of artistic, scientific and research projects

b. list of achievements, publications, participation in conferences, symposia, training, cooperation with significant cultural entities, etc.,

– portfolio containing a list of completed artistic or research projects

    commercially compensated to a ZIP file made available via a link in the email content

    and send to: praca@asp.katowice.pl,

– information regarding experience in the area of digital techniques indicated in

    conditions of participation in the competition (point II),

– other information that, in the candidate's opinion, may be important in the recruitment process.

3. A copy of the diploma for obtaining the academic degree of doctor of art in the discipline of fine arts and conservation of works of art.

4. A certificate or other document confirming knowledge of English at the B2 level.

5. Certificates, references, opinions and other professional diplomas (optional).

6. Declaration of meeting the requirements specified in Art. 113 section 1 of the Act of July 20, 2018, Law on Higher Education and Science.

7. Declaration that you have read all the terms and conditions of the competition.

8. A statement stating that the Academy will be the candidate's primary place of work.

9. Consent clause for candidates for work at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice.

IV. Deadline and place for submitting documents: until July 1, 2024 at 14:00

     Description on the envelope/e-mail: "Application for the position of assistant professor at the

     Department Graphics in the Digital Graphics Studio”.

V. The competition committee may invite candidates during the competition proceedings

     candidates for interviews.

VI. Planned competition outcome date: July 8, 2024.

VII. Proposed employment conditions: employment contract for an indefinite period, full-time.

VIII. Planned employment date: October 1, 2024.

IX. After the completion of the competition procedure, the documents of the candidates who were

    not selected are returned to them or destroyed after one month from the end of the competition

    procedure.

X. The Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice reserves the right to notify only the selected

     candidate about the results of the competition.

XI. The final decision on employment is made by the Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design

     in Katowice.

XII. We reserve the right to invalidate the competition without giving a reason.

XIII. Application documents must be submitted in Polish or English.
