Offer Description

We are seeking:
for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Faculty IV: School of
Science and Technology to begin at the earliest possible date, a
Junior Professor (W1),
on the tenure-track to a permanent W3 University Professorship for Visual Computing


Your Responsibilities:
You will strengthen the research area of Visual Computing in the Department for Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science in the School of Science and Technology.
The candidate is expected to be a strong researcher with international reputation, particularly
established through renowned international publications.
The professorship is integrated in the existing research focus Sensors/Visual Computing together
with the "Learning to Sense" research unit funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG)
and in the interdisciplinary Center for Sensor Systems (ZESS). Active participation in profile
development and in coordinated research projects is expected.
Teaching will cover courses in Visual Computing for the existing computer science and electrical
engineering study programs. It is expected that applicants will participate adequately
in the teaching of computer science as well as in its profiling and internationalization. After 5
years at the latest, the applicant should be able to offer at least some parts of their courses in
German.

A research profile is expected that covers methodological fundamental research in one or more
fields of Visual Computing,
preferably
• Machine learning in visual computing
• Computer vision
• Sensor-based image reconstruction and analysis
• Geometry processing
Orientation towards interdisciplinary applications as well as experience in the acquisition and
management of third-party funded research projects are advantageous.
