University Assistant (must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree) for a full-time, temporary position at the University Clinic for Haematology and Internal Oncology to 12/31/2029

The University Clinic for Internal Medicine 3 - Hematology and Internal Oncology deals with molecular mechanisms of therapy (in)sensitivity of tumor diseases, especially malignant lymphomas and leukemias, in order to develop novel therapy concepts and validate them preclinically. The focus of interest is on cellular stress response programs, especially cellular senescence. Molecular control, cell biological functions and translational-therapeutic implications of cellular senescence are investigated in various model systems at (epi)genetic, protein biochemical, metabolic, signal transduction and immunological levels.
Job Duties:
- Independent support of research projects in a team, with planning, methodical implementation, documentation, analysis and interpretation of experimental approaches
- Building an independent research profile
- Support with laboratory organization and maintenance
- Presentation of data at national and international conferences
- Participation in infrastructural and organizational tasks
- Maintaining research networks within and outside the JKU
- Supervision of doctoral students in the research field as well as their research projects and supervision of bachelor's and master's theses
- Participation in teaching
- Compilation, analysis, interpretation and presentation of collected data
- Development of new interdisciplinary research fields in collaboration projects with partners outside of tumor research
- Creation of scientific publications and co-design of the working group's website to present the research profile
- Support of the JKU research service team
Your Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must hold completed doctoral/Ph.D. studies in the natural sciences, medicine or related subjects
- Broad range of molecular biology methods, ideally (but not necessarily) also in areas such as single cell analysis, epigenetics, metabolism, stem cell biology, primary cell culture, genetic engineering (stable gene transfer, RNAi, CRISPR/Cas9) and integrative analysis of more complex omics data sets
- Interest in independent research or development of methods and procedures
- High motivation in the research area and in building an independent research profile
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding
- Experience with scientific presentations
- Independent, structured way of working with good communication skills
- Ability to work in a team and enjoy working in an international team
- Very good spoken and written knowledge of German and English (German level C2, English level B2). Experience abroad desired
- Experimental doctoral work and significant publication output
