Offer Description
The postdoctoral researcher will work on the Human-Mosquito Interaction Project (H-MIP), IDAlert, E4Warning, and PLANET4Health, funded by the European Union.
The researcher will carry out field work and analysis on disease vector mosquitoes and the social determinants of different populations’ exposure to these mosquitoes at research sites throughout Spain as well as in selected study sites around the world. This will include collection and identification of mosquito eggs, larvae and adults using entomological traps and aspirators, recruitment and interviews of human participants, planning and management of field work, taxonomic identification, and data analysis.
The researcher will also contribute to the operations of the Mosquito Alert citizen science system, particularly through managing the system’s digital entomology lab through which entomologists around the world volunteer to help identify mosquito reports sent by citizen scientists

Job Location: Barcelona, Spain.
Type of Contract – Contract for scientific and technical activities. Indefinite according to the provisions of article 23 bis of the Llei 14/2011, del 1 de juny, de la ciència, la tecnologia i la de innovació.
Full time (35h/w), 1-year renewable up to the expected finalization date of the Research Line at the end of 2029

Requirements to be fulfilled by the candidates
General
a) Hold a doctorate degree.
b) Have not been dismissed from the service of any public administration by means of disciplinary proceedings, nor have you been disqualified by a final judgement for the performance of public functions. If you are a national of another State, you must not be disqualified or in an equivalent situation or have been subject to disciplinary or equivalent sanction that prevents you, in your State, from accessing public employment in the same terms.
Specific qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in natural sciences
2. At least 3 years of experience with independently planning and carrying out field work for vector mosquito surveillance;
3. Experience with collecting and identifying mosquitoes using ovitraps, adult traps and aspirators.
4. Experience with the preservation of mosquito specimens for molecular analysis.
5. Fluency in Catalan, Spanish, and English.
These participation requirements must be fulfilled on the first day of the deadline for submitting applications, must be able to be accredited at any time during the selection process and must continue to be fulfilled on the date of signing the contract.
