Offer Description
We are excited to have been selected as scout of the Henriette Herz Scouting Program of the Alexander von Humboldt foundation, and have the opportunity to recommend talents for a Humboldt Research fellowship for PostDocs or experienced researchers.
The Weitz lab in the Physics Department at Göttingen University is therefore inviting applications for a PostDoctoral candidate or experienced researcher in condensed matter physics.
Our group explores the fundamental electronic properties of van-der-Waals quantum matter and organic semiconductors. We operate state-of-the-art equipment including closed-cycle dilution refrigerators, a low-temperature near-field microscope (IR and THz SNOM) and have access to a state-of-the-art cleanroom. In case you have a strong background in condensed matter physics, quantum transport, van-der-Waals assembly, near-field microscopy or organic electronics and are excited about exploring van-der-Waals quantum matter or organic semiconductors just like we are, you will enjoy working in our group. We provide an international, interdisciplinary, flexible and motivating environment with ample possibilities for own career development, mentoring and career support.
The general requirements to have a chance to be selected for a fellowship are: You should have:
- received your PhD within the last 12 years
- an above-average publication record, commensurate with career level
- not undertaken post-doctoral research stays nor completed degrees/doctorates in Germany
- no German nationality
- good knowledge of English
- no previous applications submitted to the Foundation
For more details on the fellowship and its benefits see here.

A potential nomination will commence through the Henriette Herz program, which enables swift funding decision.
Further information:
The goal of the scouting program is to increase the diversity of the Humboldt network. Female candidates are therefore particularly encouraged to apply.
We look forward to receiving your application including a motivational cover letter, CV, transcripts of BSc, MSc and PhD degree as well as the contact information of two referees. Incomplete applications will unfortunately not be considered.
