The Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte) of the University Institute of Lisbon (Iscte -Instituto Universitário de Lisboa) is open to applications for a PhD Student Research Grant, as part of the project “Reconcetualizar a teoria e os modelos do Serviço Social Português na contemporaneidade no Pós-COVID 19”, under the following conditions:

The work plan is part of the project's research activities, specifically:
- compilation of a literature review and relevant documentation;
- collection and analysis of data;
- collaborating in the writing of reports and scientific publications.

Applicants must have:
- a CV in Social Work demonstrating training in the area, namely being enrolled in a Doctorate in Social Work (according to Article 6 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (Reg. no. 950/2019).
- evidence of professional experience in the field of the competition with national and/or international research practice;
- publications in the field of Social Work as an area of knowledge.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries need to be registered by a Portuguese institution, by Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August and Ministerial Order no. 33/2019 of 25 January. Presentation of the certificate is mandatory for signing the contract.

Additional Information
Duration of the grant:
The scholarship is for a period of 6 months. The grant contract may be renewed within the duration of the research project and by the stipulations of Article 6.4 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force.
Monthly maintenance allowance:
The amount of the grant corresponds to €1,259.64 according to the table of grant amounts awarded by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_2023.pdf). The amount of the grant is increased by the corresponding voluntary social insurance, if the candidate chooses to take it out, as well as personal accident insurance. The grant will be paid monthly by bank transfer.
Selection methods:
The selection procedure will be based on curricular assessment. If several candidates demonstrate that they have the right profile to fulfill the work plan, the selection board reserves the right to invite the top three candidates for an interview. The right to invite the top three candidates for an interview based on the curricular assessment, which will have a weighting of 20 % in the final score.
If the jury decides that interviews are not necessary, the final weighting of the curricular assessment will be 100%.
The curricular assessment criteria will be based on
- Academic record (40 %);
- professional and research experience (40%);
- experience demonstrated in the areas indicated in the priority factors (20 %).
The curriculum vitae of the candidates will be evaluated according to the criteria indicated and on an integer scale between 0 and 20.
The selection board reserves the right to
a) to invite the candidate with the highest score, in the order of the final ranking list, if the selected candidate does not meet the requirements for formalizing the contract or if he/she is unavailable.
b) not to award the grant if none of the candidates matches the desired profile.
Composition of the Selection Panel:
The selection of candidates will be made by a jury composed of: Jorge Ferreira (CIES-Iscte/Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa), who will preside, and the members, Pablo Álvarez (CIES-Iscte/Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa) and Maria João Pena (CIES-Iscte/Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa).
