Offer Description
IdiPAZ selects a pre-doctoral researcher to join the research group led by Dr. Olga Vera Puente, in the speciality of Cancer and Human Molecular Genetics. The incorporation will be immediate within the FORTALECE 2023 project.
IdiPAZ Health Research Institute is the result of a partnership between “La Paz” University Hospital, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the Healthcare Public Service of the Madrid Autonomous Region and the Foundation for Biomedical Research of La Paz UH, which is the managing body of the Institute. This strategic alliance has made it possible to tackle research projects through joint multidisciplinary teams, making the most of the human and material resources available to these entities for research and promoting research fundraising. Our vision is to be a national and international reference for biomedical translational research of excellence, focus on people’s health.
Your role will be of Technical Coordinator of the EU reference laboratory for in vitro diagnostic medical devices granted to the Madrilenian Health Services (SERMAS). The laboratory is distributed between Three different SERMAS’ university hositals (La Paz, Gregorio Marañón, Ramón y Cajal). You will be placed at La Paz UH and hired by its Biomedical Research Foundation. The coordinator will be responsible for setting up, documeting and implementing the workflow processes for the consortium, as well as communicating with all other network partners.

Main functions
- Work with cell cultures, including but not limited to transfections, functional assays with siRNA, sEVs and nanoparticles.
- Processing of samples of different biological origin for study by high-throughput techniques, NGS and arrays.
- Use of Excel and bibliographic references.
- Acquisition of data and presentation of results in graphs.
- Handling the preparation of figures for the dissemination of results at congresses and scientific conferences.
Secondary functions
- Management of minor contracts to obtain authorisation to purchase products.
- General laboratory maintenance.
- Preparation of reagents and stock maintenance
- Development of new methodologies
-Degree in Biology or Genetics
-Previous experience of at least one year in a research centre will be an asset.
-Handling of biological samples and ability to maintain patient databases.
-Molecular biology techniques such as: western blot, protein quantification by colorimetric techniques, extraction, purification and isolation of DNA and RNA (in liquid biopsy, biopsy and in tissues and cells), amplification of nucleic acids by PCR, qPCR, dPCR, qMSP and modification of DNA for arrays.

- Professional Category: Group III, Area 2 according to the collective bargaining agreement.
- Gross annual salary: 20.900 €
- Full time of 37.5 hours per week.
- Private matters: 6 working days per year.
- Vacation: 22 working days per year.
- December 24 and 31 are non-business days.
The selection process will consist of two phases and the following scale will be applied, out of a maximum of 10 points:
- Training and curricular merits: 6 points.
- Personal interview: 4 points
In the event that two or more candidates match the values and needs of the institution and meet the conditions required for the post, and where there is a tie, the candidate with a certificate attesting to a minimum degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 per cent shall prevail.

The selection committee, composed of the head of human resources at IdiPAZ, the President of the IdiPAZ Internal Scientific Committee and the Project Officer, will then evaluate the selected application applying the scales described in each call for applications. Once the candidate is selected, he/she will be contacted by the HR department of IdiPAZ to provide the required documentation.
