Offer Description

A PhD position is available at the ONERA in Salon-de-Provence. The successful candidate will work on studies of perceptual decision-making and confidence. The project aims at decoding individuals’ confidence from EEG and eye-tracking signals. Research methods include psychophysics, EEG and eye-tracking. The project is a collaborative effort with 8 other labs throughout Europe. S/he will be supervised by Dr. Andrea Desantis and Dr Guillaume Masson (CNRS researcher at the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone in Marseille), and will join the Cognitive Engineering and Applied Neurosciences (ICNA) group in Salon-de-Provence (France). The candidate may be led to travel to Marseille since some of the studies will be conducted at the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone.

The ICNA is an interdisciplinary research unit at the ONERA in Salon-de-Provence, with expertise in applied mathematics, engineering, cognitive science and human factors. It is a very dynamic group composed of 13 permanent researchers, 10 PhD students, 3 post-docs and several interns. The working languages are French and English. The team has several equipment at disposal such as 3 EEG systems, a fNIRS, EMG, ECG, GSR recording systems, motion capture systems, 3 eye-trackers, several simulators, including a mobile platform couple with virtual reality to induce visuo-vestibular stimulations.

Candidates should have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in neuroscience, computer science, cognitive science, or related fields. Previous experience with computer programming is highly preferred. Experience with visual psychophysics, EEG, eye-tracking, and/or machine learning is a plus.
