Offer Description

A Post-Doctoral Fellow for the development of the project “Enzymatic oxidation of sugarcane bagasse II: exploring the interaction between CDHs and LPMOs aiming to develop more efficient enzymes for insertion into a genetically modified cell factory”. The general objective of this line of research is to continue efforts to understand oxidoreductases classified as auxiliary activity enzymes (AA) of the AA3 (cellobiose dehydrogenase – CDH), AA9 and AA16 (lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases – LPMOs) families using computational analyzes and construction of mutants.  Particular objective of the project involves carrying out point mutations or obtaining new sequences in order to understand the interaction between these proteins.

The candidate must have a doctorate in Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology or related areas, desirable experience in bioinformatics and basic molecular techniques: extraction and isolation of nucleic acids and proteins, PCR, transformation; and advanced: Cassette assembly, DNA assembly in vivo and in vitro. The position also requires a leadership profile, motivation, and independence to work with students at master's and doctoral levels. For computational analyses, the postdoctoral student will interact with researcher from MIB at University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.

Interested parties must send by March 29th of 2024 to Prof. Fernando Segato (segato@usp.br) the following documentation: curriculum summary in the FAPESP format (https://fapesp.br/sumula), letter expressing the reasons for interest in the position and the indication of two names with e-mails (references), which will be consulted as a recommendation.
