Offer Description

We are excited to launch these new and rewarding opportunities for Research Assistants/Associates to join us.  We are keen to hear from those of you who have a keen interest in the broad and diverse field of civil engineering.  You will join a diverse community of colleagues based in Newcastle in our newly renovated Stephenson Building.

Who are we?

The National Hub for Decarbonised, Adaptable and Resilient Transport Infrastructures (DARe) in the Civil and Geospatial Engineering group at Newcastle University brings together Newcastle University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Glasgow, and Heriot-Watt University. The Hub is jointly funded by EPSRC and the Department for Transport.

The mission is to deliver cutting-edge research and user-friendly software tools that will help inform the pathway towards a climate resilient and net zero transport system. By integrating a range of data-based models, the Hub’s open access tools will provide users with information indicating how transport systems are performing against resilience, decarbonisation, and other objectives, now and in the future, and enable users to perform scenario planning to inform infrastructure development.

The Role

You will play a key role in processing data, developing models, and working with external stakeholders from regional transport authorities, national logistics providers and government agencies. You will deliver to help inform the UK’s future transport infrastructure.  The Hub works closely with policy makers in the DfT and their delivery bodies which gives the researcher a unique opportunity to work with and influence policy thinking.
