Offer Description
The Universidade Lusófona, instituted by COFAC - Cooperativa de Formação e Animação Cultural. CRL, is launching a contest to award a research scholarship, in the scope of the research project Games Inclusion Lab: Participatory Media Creation Processes for Accessibility, financed by the "Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P." / FCT, I.P. / MCTES (FCT, I.P.), ref. 2022.07939.PTDC.
This is a 24-month research scholarship, starting January 2, 2023, in the scientific area of : Communication Sctudies (Games Studies) or Audiovisual and Media Production (Games Studies)
The value of the monthly maintenance allowance corresponds to the values established for Master's research grants, as per the FCT, I.P. grant amounts table (Table of monthly maintenance allowances of the FCT I.P. Research Grants Regulations).
The grants related to the grant components are financed by "Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P." / MCTES (FCT, I.P.), ref. 2022.07939.PTDC.

Proficiency in research methodologies for the production of systematic literature review in game studies; Applied knowledge of inclusive communication;
Master's degree in the area of Audiovisual Media Production (Games Studies) Communication (Games Studies) with specialization in accessibility and alternative communication.

Additional Information
The following are eligible to apply to this contest: National citizens or citizens from other European Union member states; Citizens from third countries; Stateless persons; Citizens benefiting from political refugee status.
Master's degree in the area of Audiovisual Media Production (Games Studies) Communication (Games Studies) with specialization in accessibility and alternative communication.
Availability to enroll in a PhD program in Communication Sciences/ Media Arts with specialization in the area of game studies related to accessibility and alternative communication;
Research experience, demonstrating with publication of articles in the study area of this research project; Skills in qualitative and quantitative data analysis;
Permanent and habitual residence in Portugal, a requirement applicable to both national and foreign citizens; Proficient command of English.
Applications considered admissible will be scored on a scale of 0 to 100 on each of the following evaluation criteria:
Criterion A - Final Master's degree grade, with a weight of 20%.
Criterion B - Evaluation of the work proposal to be carried out in the scope of the PhD in Communication Sciences applied to the study of Games and/or the mission of the HEI-Lab, with the weight of 25%.
Criterion C - Integrated evaluation of the candidate's academic and/or professional trajectory, based on an overview of his/her scientific merits, with a weight of 35%.
Criterion D - Motivation letter with the weight of 20%.
For the purposes of the decision on the award of the scholarships, the candidates will be ordered according to the weighted average of the classification obtained in each of the four criteria, translated by the following formula:
Merit Classification = (20% × A) + (25%× B) + (35% x C) + (20% × D)
For tie-breaking purposes, candidates will be ranked on the basis of the marks awarded for each of the evaluation criteria in the following order of precedence: criterion A, criterion B, criterion C, and criterion D.
The Jury may decide to invite the three candidates with the best scores to an interview, in which case the following evaluation sub-criteria will apply

- Demonstrated knowledge in research in the area of the competition (50%)
- Motivation (10%)
- Language Skills (20%)
The classification of the Interview will be obtained by applying the following formula:
Interview = a + b + c + d
In case of interview, the final classification of Merit and Interview will be obtained by applying the following formula:
Final Classification = (Merit*0,7) + (Interview*0,3)
If the interview is not held, the final classification will correspond to 100% of the evaluation obtained in the Candidate's Merit.
The jury may not award the scholarship if the quality of the candidates is inferior to the desired quality.
The final results of the evaluation will be published through a list sorted by score, posted in a visible and public place on the website of the host Unit and also by email to all candidates. The notification will be sent to the email address used/indicated by the candidates when submitting the application. The selected candidate must indicate in writing his/her intention to accept the scholarship. In case of non-acceptance, the scholarship will be awarded to the candidate in order of final ranking.
