Offer Description

The Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia (CIES-Iscte) of  Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa is accepting applications for (1) PhD Student Research Grant under the project "SYNCLUSIVE - System approach to close the employment gap and create a more inclusive labour market for vulnerable groups", financed by the European Commission (GA ID: 101094526; Call HORIZON-CL2-2022-TRANSFORMATIONS-01).

Work Plan

The work plan aims to support research and dissemination activities under the project "SYNCLUSIVE - System approach to close the employment gap and create a more inclusive labour market for vulnerable groups", in the relationship between the built environment and the most vulnerable populations, exploring existing policies related to employment and inclusion across the board and identifying: employment gaps and labour market trends; comprehensive strategies to address employment gaps and promote inclusion; potential synergies between vulnerable groups, employers, government and civil society; various types of strategy implementation.

Through mentoring future candidates for reintegration into the labour market, the aim is to: monitor the progress of the training process; evaluate the impact of the strategies implemented on inclusion in the labour market; disseminate the results of the evaluation to all stakeholders; develop a plan for the continuity of inclusion initiatives.

Specific Requirements

Admission requirements
Applicants must hold a Master's Degree in Architecture and be enrolled in a PhD programme in Architecture (according to Article 6 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (Reg. no. 950/2019).

Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries need to be registered by a Portuguese institution, in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August and Ministerial Order no. 33/2019 of 25 January. Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance
The amount of the grant corresponds to €1,199.64 according to the table of grant amounts awarded by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_2023.pdf). The amount of the grant is increased by the corresponding voluntary social insurance, if the candidate chooses to take it out, as well as personal accident insurance. The grant will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection methods

The selection process will be based on curricular assessment. If several candidates demonstrate that they have the right profile to carry out the work plan, the selection board reserves the right to call the three best-ranked candidates for an interview, which will have a weighting of 20% in the final classification. If the jury deems an interview unnecessary, the final weighting of the curricular assessment will be 100%.

The assessment and classification criteria are as follows:

a) academic record (30%);

b) research experience (40%);

c) demonstrated experience in the items indicated in the preferential factors (30%). 

 

Candidates' curricula will be assessed according to the criteria indicated, on a scale of 0 to 20 points.

 

The jury reserves the right to:

a) invite the highest-scoring candidate to the position in question, following the order established in the final ranking list, whenever the selected candidate does not meet the requirements for formalizing the contract or in the event of unavailability;

b) not awarding the grant if none of the candidates matches the desired profile.

Notification of results

The final results of the assessment will be announced by a list of admitted and excluded candidates and a final ranking list, and all candidates will be notified by email. The Hearing of Interested Parties takes place within 10 working days of the results being announced.

The call is open from 16 November to 7 December 2023.
