Offer Description
The open position (job) is within a project financed within Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan Pillar III. Smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, including economic cohesion, jobs, productivity, competitiveness, research, development, and innovation, and a well-functioning internal market with strong small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs),Component C9. Support for the private sector, research, development and innovation “I8. Development of a program to attract highly specialised, Beneficiary: National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (NUSTPB), Project name: Green chemistry and thermochemical processing, a convergent approach towards biobased chemicals and hydrogen synthesis (ConverGreen) ID: CF 86/15.11.2022, cod 86. The main goal of ConverGreen project is to create an excellence research group at National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, in the field of bio-products and hydrogen production, based on fundamental investigations that lead to innovative processing techniques that will contribute to future scientific advances. The main objectives are the following: synthesis of new compounds through thermo-chemical conversion, production of materials: catalysts & Ca/P compounds via green chemistry, scientific level enhancement, self-sustained research capacity and outreach.
Regarding the selection procedure:
A. Any person who meets the following general conditions can participate in the selection process:
a) knows the English language at an advanced level, written and spoken;
b) has a state of health corresponding to the position for which he is applying, attested on the basis of the medical certificate issued by the family doctor or the authorized health units;
c) fulfills the conditions of studies and, as the case may be, seniority or other specific conditions according to the requirements of the position put up for competition;
d) has not been definitively convicted for committing a crime against humanity, against the state or against the authority, in the service or in connection with the service, which prevents the administration of justice, forgery or acts of corruption or a crime committed with intent, which would make it incompatible with the exercise of the function, except in the situation where rehabilitation intervened.
B. Content of application files:
a) competition registration application;
b) copy of the identity document or any other document certifying the identity, according to the law, as the case may be;
c) documents certifying education, seniority, general and specific experience, in accordance with the requirements of the announcement (e.g. PhD diploma);
d) the criminal record or a declaration on his own responsibility that he has no criminal history that would make him incompatible with the position for which he is applying (the criminal record must be presented by the candidate designated as the winner within 10 working days from the publication of the result end of the recruitment and selection process);
e) medical certificate certifying the appropriate state of health, issued no more than 6 months prior to the selection process by the candidate's family doctor or by the authorized units;
f) CV, dated and signed on each page, certifying identity, according to the law as the case may be.
g) cover letter, list of publications, and a list of three referees with contact information
h) the candidate who has held a PhD degree for more than 5 years at the time of application is not eligible. The applicant is working in a research organization

The applicant must have earned a PhD degree in environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, power engineering, engineering science, or a similar field. The candidate who has held a PhD degree for more than 5 years at the time of application is not eligible. The applicant is working in a research organization. Strong written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work with others in a team-oriented environment at UNSTPB are a must. Experience in the reaction modeling and/or multiphysics modeling is a must. Laboratory experience and expertise in validation of these models is strongly preferred. Research abilities and experience in the desired field as demonstrated through first authorship/corresponding authorship or co-authorship on peer-reviewed manuscripts published in ranked ISI journals.
The employee will conduct part-time research in an interdisciplinary environment focusing on pyrolysis, including heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, fluid flow, chemical reactions, numerical modelling etc. The specific applications are for chemical kinetics analyses, production of chemicals from waste pyrolysis processes. The research will also focus on improving experimental configurations and reaction products yield and quality. Responsibilities consist of conducting and assisting with computer modeling, corresponding laboratory research for validations (in a supervised as well as an independent environment), including experimental set-up, experimental design, sample collection, and sample analysis. Responsibilities also include equipment maintenance, laboratory safety, and assistance with graduate and undergraduate student research, and writing of research manuscripts, as well as other duties as assigned by supervisors.
