Offer Description
We are looking for a person to work as a Data Manager of the ERC Advanced Grant project “SCAVENGERS” https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101097511
This project aims to investigate the effects of carnivores on prehistoric campsites to better understand the human occupational and behavioural patterns.
The selected candidate will play a critical role working on experimental research with current wild carnivores. She/he must coordinate a Neo-taphonomic team in charge of documenting the effects of current scavengers, such as hyenas, wolves, bears, and other minor carnivores, on the experimental reproductions of prehistoric human campsites. The end of the contract will occur at the end of the project, with the development of a test (or a system of tests) to detect the presence of scavengers in the archaeological sites.
In addition, she/he will provide support for key research activities and studies across the different work packages of the project, taking a special care on the curation, organization, and management of the project's data with the support of a Data Steward.
Finally, he/she will give support to the PI mentoring the PhD students, also working in coordination with the postdoctoral researchers. Therefore, we are looking for a person able to work independently, meet criteria, have a high level of motivation, possess good communication skills, demonstrate team working skills, and show a strong engagement with the research topics of the project.
The candidate will be on board of the team lead by Dr Jordi Rosell https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6758-6291, the PI of the SCAVENGERS project and, by extension, of its Host Institution, the Catalan Institute of the Human Palaeoecology and Human Evolution (IPHES-CERCA), located in Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain). Therefore, the selected candidate will have a great opportunity to work in a highly dynamic and multidisciplinary institution and expand her/his scientific network.
