Offer Description

The Department of Business Humanities and Law at Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a non-tenured 2 to 3-year Postdoc in Tax Law and Entrepreneurship. The starting date is negotiable but should be during the calendar year 2024.

The position is intended to build capacity in entrepreneurship studies and is connected to the Carlsberg Semper Ardens: Advance research environment “The Entrepreneurial Age: Rethinking Entrepreneurship in Society”. Overall, the project group explores in which historical contexts our current understanding of entrepreneurship first emerged, how entrepreneurial discourse assigns value and legitimacy to some forms of behavior over others, and by which mechanisms it affects social change. How we think and talk about entrepreneurship shapes a critical view of entrepreneurship and creates possibilities for reframing, which provide novel impulses for the future.

The Postdoc will focus on the intersection between tax law and entrepreneurship. On the one hand tax regulations can be detrimental to entrepreneurship by creating additional barriers for a successful venture. On the other hand, tax regulations may be used to induce entrepreneurship by granting taxpayers various tax incentives. Moreover, new tendencies in entrepreneurial behavior may necessitate amendments of tax policy and legislation. Accordingly, the Postdoc should explore this intersection (mainly) from legal perspective.

The Postdoc position is a two-year fixed-term appointment with opportunity for extension to a third year.

For more information about the position, please contact Christina Lubinski, cl.bhl@cbs.dk or Peter Koerver Schmidt, pks.bhl@cbs.dk.

Research Environment

The Department of Business Humanities and Law is dedicated to an integrated approach to the contemporary challenges facing business and society drawing on the humanities, interdisciplinary social sciences, and law. It emphasizes problem-oriented research to understand those challenges and to build the lifelong capabilities necessary to address them. Faculty within the Department of Business Humanities and Law have diverse research backgrounds and research foci including but not limited to leadership, entrepreneurship, ethics, strategy, law, politics, economics, sociology, philosophy, history, anthropology, diversity, equity and inclusion, culture and leisure management. Within the Department of Business Humanities and Law, the position will be located in CBS LAW, a unit focusing on law in a business & society context. The Postdoc will also have close ties to the Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership Unit, an interdisciplinary research environment connecting leadership to business ethics and entrepreneurship.
