Offer Description
Call for the attribution of one (1) research fellowship (BI) within the scope of the Project Echoes from the Past: Unveiling a Lost Soundscape with Digital Analysis(ECHOES) (2022.01957.PTDC), financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC).
The research fellowship’s duration is 24 months and is non-renewable. The expected starting date is 1st January 2024.
Working plan: The research fellow will assist the research team in carrying out the tasks performed during the term of the project; he/she will also actively participate in other activities of CESEM. Specifically, the selected candidate 1) will study the plainchant sources from Braga and catalogue them in the Portuguese Early Music Database; 2) prepare the musicological material that will serve as basis for the automatic analysis. The latter task will be performed jointly with the PI of the project.
Researcher Profiles: Holder of a MA in Musicology or equivalent and enrolment in a Doctorate in Musicology or equivalent.
Research fields: Historical Musicology.

In the case of academic degrees obtained in foreign higher education institutions, it is necessary to present the recognition of the degrees obtained, in accordance with DL Nº 66/2018, of August 16; or, in the absence of recognition at the time of application, declaration under oath that the candidate will provide this this recognition before contracting the Scholarship in case one is the selected candidate.
However, it is mandatory to present the acknowledgment by the time the scholarship is contracted.

Preferential requirements: 1) area of specialization in Historical Musicology; 2) previous experience in inventory/cataloguing of musical sources; 3) willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team of historical musicologists and IT specialists to learn new techniques for digital analysis in the area of early music.
Additional Information
The research fellowship corresponds to €1.199,64 monthly, according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in Portugal. (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). Added to this amount is the voluntary social insurance corresponding to the first category, if the candidate so chooses, as well as a personal accident insurance.
The selection method will be the following:
a) curriculum evaluation, on a grading scale from 0 to 10, with weighting of the academic background (0-5 points) and the preferential requirements (0-5 points).
After the provisional list of assessment results has been communicated, candidates have a period of 10 working days to give their opinion, if they wish, at a prior hearing of interested parties, in accordance with articles 121 et seq. of the Code of Administrative Procedure. The final decision must be taken no later than 60 working days after the conclusion of the prior hearing of interested parties or the public consultation. A complaint can be lodged against the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal can be lodged with the highest executive body of the funding body within 30 working days, both after the respective notification
