Offer Description
The ProChild Against Poverty and Social Exclusion Collaborative Laboratory Association (ProChild CoLAB) has an open call for two (2) Research Scholarships (BI) to carry out R&D activities by PhD students in Psychology or Masters enrolled in Non-Conferring Academic Degree Courses, in the Scientific Area of Psychology, as part of the project "All4Children The Integrated Model of Family Foster Care (MIAF®) to promote high-quality child welfare practices in Portugal", 2022. 03592.PTDC, financed by national funds through FCT – Fundation for Science and Technology (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia), I.P/MCTES, PIDDAC.
The 2 positions, one taking plance in Guimarães and the other in Lisbon, are aimed at students enrolled in a Doctoral Programme in Psychology or Masters enrolled in an accredited course that does not confer an academic degree, a course that is part of the educational project of a higher education institution, as specified in Article 4, number 3, of Decree-Law no. 74/2006 of 24 March.

- Research experience in practice-orientated projects, preferably in the area of Promotion and Protection in general and Foster Care, and in the dissemination of scientific results;
- Experience of collaborative teamwork, preferably with a network of partners and organisations in the fostering and protection system;
- Strong orientation towards the fulfilment of objectives and results, as well as innovation;
- Experience in collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data;
- Experience in applying, quoting and interpreting psychological assessment tests;
- Excellent communication skills, spoken and written, in Portuguese and English.
Master's degree in Psychology, proven by a certificate of qualification;
Enrolment in a Doctoral Programme in Psychology or in a Non-Degree Course, proven at the time the grant is contracted by means of a declaration issued by the academic services of the Higher Education Institution, indicating the academic year in progress or its duration (start and end). Enrolment in non-accredited degree courses will not be considered as proof of enrolment. Candidates may apply without prior enrolment on the course for which the scholarship is open. The requirement to be enrolled on a degree or non-degree course will be verified on the date the scholarship is contracted;
Proof of experience in research and the dissemination of scientific results (e.g. scientific publications, certificates of oral communications at scientific meetings and integration in competitively funded research projects);
Applicants with a foreign academic degree or diploma must submit proof of recognition of the academic degree in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018. Any candidate without the degree(s) recognised will not be admitted to the competition.

Additional Information
The amount of the monthly maintenance allowance (MMA) corresponds to 1,199.64 euros/month, according to the table of values for FCT, I.P. scholarships in Portugal (Table of monthly maintenance allowances of the FCT I.P. Research Scholarship Regulations) and updates.
Other benefits: Personal Accident Insurance and reimbursement of Voluntary Social Insurance, corresponding to the 1st Tier of the contribution base (for grants of 6 months or more, in 2023, this corresponds to 142.21 euros/month).

1. Application submission
The application must be entitled ProChild 052/2023 and must include all of the following documents, failing which it will be excluded:
- motivation letter
- a detailed curriculum vitae, with a copy of your qualification certificates and copies of other supporting documents
- at least one letter of recommendation, dated less than 6 months;
- A video presentation in English (no more than 2 minutes).
- Declaration of fulfilment of scholarship requirements for the type of scholarship.

2. Deadline for submitting applications
The application process runs from 13 to 27 September 2023.
3. Screening of applications
Applications that do not fulfil any of the admission and application requirements will be excluded.
Applications will be ranked on the basis of curricular assessment and, if the jury deems it necessary, interviews will be held. In all cases, consideration will be given to the suitability of the candidate's profile for the duties/activities to be performed, with particular emphasis on training and professional experience.

5. Critérios e procedimentos de avaliação e seleção
The curricular assessment will focus on the following criteria, assessed on a scale of 0 to 4, the sum of which will result in a mark out of 20:
1. Research experience in practice-orientated projects, preferably in the area of Promotion and Protection, in general, and Family Fostering, in particular, and in the dissemination of scientific results;
2. Experience of collaborative teamwork, preferably with a network of partners and organisations in the Fostering and Protection system, and a strong orientation towards achieving objectives and results and innovation;
3. Proficiency in methods for collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data;
4. Experience in applying, quoting and interpreting psychological assessment tests;
5. Communication skills and spoken and written command of Portuguese and English.
Candidates will be ranked on the basis of their curricular assessment. At the end of the curricular assessment, if the jury so decides, the best six candidates in the curricular assessment will be invited to an interview, which will be notified and convened by email.
At the interview, 5 criteria will also be assessed, each graded from 0 to 4, the sum of which will also translate into an assessment of 0 to 20:
1. Knowledge, skills (particularly interpersonal skills) and relevant experience in these contexts;
2. Knowledge of and alignment with the objectives and mission of ProChild CoLAB;
3. Innovation, technology and orientation towards the fulfilment of objectives and results;
4. Clarity of speech, oral communication skills, fluidity of communication, ease of adapting to the speech of interlocutors;
5. Motivation suited to the responsibilities, functions and primary place of work.
The final classification of the candidates interviewed will consist of the simple arithmetic average of the CV and Interview classifications. Only the candidates interviewed will be admitted to the final ranking. Candidates not admitted to interview will not be considered in the final ranking.
6. Notification of results and complaint/appeal procedures:
The final results of the evaluation will be published in an ordered list (alphabetically, by final grade obtained), sent by email to all candidates no later than 90 working days after the deadline for submitting applications, with the minutes of the jury's deliberations attached for this purpose.
The selected candidate must express their intention to accept the scholarship in writing within 10 working days of receiving the notification to geral@prochildcolab.pt. In the event of non-acceptance, the scholarship will be awarded to the next candidate in order of final ranking.
An appeal against the final decision may be lodged with the President of the Jury within 15 working days of notification. Interested parties may also appeal to the organisation's highest executive body, as provided for in article 12 of the FCT's RBI.
The jury reserves the right not to award a grant if none of the candidates matches the desired profile, simply by informing all the candidates.
- Duration of the scholarship(s)
The scholarships will last for 12 months (each scholarship), and are expected to start in October 2023.
Each scholarship may be renewed for additional periods up to the maximum legally permitted and in accordance with the budget allocation of the project that supports it and in compliance with the Research Grant Regulations, no. 950/2019 of 16-12-2019, of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force. - in force.
- Exclusive basis
The performance of duties as a scholarship holder is carried out on an exclusive basis, under the terms of article 5 of the Research Scholarship Holder's Statute and article 16 of the applicable Research Grant Regulations.

Research Scholarship Holder's Statute (Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação - EBI), approved by Law no. 40/2004 of 18 August, in the current wording published by Decree-Law no. 123/2019 of 28 August and Research Grant Regulation no. 950/2019 of 16-12-2019, of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. - in force.
- Data Protection
In accordance with the GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation and Law no. 58/2019, of 8 August, the data collected will be processed exclusively for the purpose of processing the application on the basis of the lawfulness of the need for processing for the purpose of carrying out pre-contractual procedures and with ProChild CoLAB acting as the data controller. We retain data relating to the recruitment process for 5 years after the data has been collected, on the grounds of compliance with legal obligations.
