Offer Description

Applications are welcome to 1 researcher position. You will be working as part of the ‘Industrial Ecology and Sustainability Laboratory', a group that is seeking highly motivated candidates who wish to pursue research in modelling the design and implementation of energy communities, contributing to the reinforcement of the laboratory competencies.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for people excited about innovation and technology, willing to develop research oriented to impact society. If you have already concluded your MSc and are interested in working in modelling the design and implementation of energy communities, this position could be for you!

We are looking for candidates with the following profile:

  • Qualifications: MSc degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical and Computer, Energy and Management Engineering, or related domains.
  • Expertise: in system engineering, load flexibility or energy communities simulation is a plus.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with Python. Creating user-interfaces and REST APIs is a plus.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in English and Portuguese (spoken and written)..

This sounds like you? We're waiting for you!

YOUR ROLE

You’ll integrate AIDEN - AI DRIVEN ENERGY COMMUNITIES, a project inserted on the PRR funded Agenda NGS – New Generation Storage, which aims to study the role of storage in transitioning energy systems. With this main objective in mind, we expect your active contribution to the research and demonstration activities of the project, contributing to model the design and implementation of energy communities, considering different technologies and interaction models (CSC, P2P) and services to be provided to the grid, such as flexibility, energy storage or active demand response. In this context, the research activities to be carried out by the candidate will consist of:

  1. Developing load forecasting models for flexibility aggregation;
  2. Modelling and validation on Energy communities’ operation and interaction with the grid;
  3. Test and integrate models with other technology modules, on common aggregation platform.

CONDITIONS

We offer the integration into a dynamic and enthusiastic team for the development of research activities under an unspecified fixed-term employment contract up to 12 months, possibly renewable following the best international practices.

We expect you to start from November 2023 and your work will be developed at our facilities at IST Alameda under the scientific supervision of Dra. Diana Neves.
