IEP SAS call for excellent researchers R2, R3, R4

Institute of Experimental Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (IEP SAS) is looking for progressive, ambitious, and innovative R2-R3-R4 researchers with a focus on:

1. Magnetic nanoparticles for bio and technical applications
2. Low temperature physics – superconductivity and superfluidity
3. Biophysics of proteins
4. Material sciences
5. Chemical Physics

Applicants are expected to join existing research activities at the Institute of Experimental Physics SAS in one of the following research topics:

R2 applicants:

1. Magnetic nanoflowers for biomedical applications
2. Self-assembled structures in ferromagnetic liquid crystals
3. Impact of magnetic and electric field on structure of magnetic fluids
4. Smart nanoparticles with Perovskite structure for biomedicine applications
5. 2D Magnetic Materials: Properties, Applications, and Challenges
6. Slovak cryogen-free (dry) refrigerator
7. Noncentrosymmetric superconductors: STM and heat capacity measurements
8. Protein structural changes associated with amyloid related diseases - mechanism and therapy
9. Stability and conformational changes of proteins in different solvents
10. Growth of bulk Eu-Ba-Cu-O crystals, structure and superconducting properties

R3 applicants:

1. Development and characterization of novel magnetic nanoparticles from the perspective of hyperthermia and magnetic resonance imaging applications
2. Multiferroic materials and magnetoelectric physics
3. Superconducting materials at extreme conditions - high pressures, very low temperatures, 2D confinement

R4 applicants:

1. Modelling of cosmological phenomena in quantum liquids
2. New paradigm in the design of nanoobjects in liquid media without stabilizers: the green chemistry
3. Single-directional growth of bulk RE-Ba-Cu-O crystals, structure and superconducting properties

There are three categories of applicants:
● R2 = postdocs / recognised researcher (approx 3 138 € gross monthly salary),
● R3 = independent / established researcher (approx 3 567 € gross monthly salary),
● R4 = leading researcher (approx 3 991 € gross monthly salary).Pro

The stipend includes additional budget for research expenses (1 300 € per project month) and team personnel expenses (max 0/2 000/4 500 € per project month for R2/R3/R4 researcher).

Successful candidates will be informed before August 21st, 2023.

The full proposal must be completed before September 18th, 2023.

Only if your proposal is approved for funding your position will be funded by the mentioned program. The duration of the project is 12-24 months and it must end at latest on 30/06/2026.
