Doctoral Research Fellowship

We invite applications for a Doctoral Research Fellowship in second language (L2) phonology at the Center for Linguistics Research (CLUNL) at NOVA University Lisbon Portugal. The post is available for 10 months and potentially renewable. The preferred start date is October 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter. The deadline for applications is August 18^th.

The successful applicant will join an international research project (ProPerL2: Production and Perception in L2 speech learning) that investigates (1) the impact of perception and production training in L2 speech learning and (2) the role of cognitive factors. The project is funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and led by Professor Susana Correia (NOVA University), in collaboration with Professor Anabela Rato (University of Toronto) and Professor Patrick Rebuschat (Lancaster University).

Job description:

The successful applicant will perform a range of tasks such as the following:

• Setting up experiments on speech perception and production in widely-used platforms;
• Overseeing the successful conclusion of data collection;
• Analysing and interpreting experimental speech data.
