Scientific area: Social and Human Sciences

 

In compliance with the provisions of article 7 of the FCT Research Grants Regulation (Reg. nº 950/2019), applicants must:

a) hold a PhD degree obtained in the three years prior to the date of submission of the scholarship application;

b) have carried out the research work that led to the award of the doctoral degree in an entity other than the entity hosting the grant;

c) not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, an accumulated period of three years in this type of scholarship, consecutive or interpolated;

d) not have had previously a post-doctoral research fellowship contract with FCSH.

 

Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require registration by a Portuguese HEI, in accordance with Decree-law nº 66/2018, of August 26th, and Portaria nº 33/2019, of January 25th. Researcher Profiles:

Post-Doctoral Researcher in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities/

— PhD degree completed in Literature or History in the last 3 years;

— Documented experience and interest in archiving and cataloging;

— Documented experience and interest in bibliographic treatment;

— Basic digital skills;

— Ability and interest in integrating multidisciplinary teams.

 

Work plan:

The Post-Doctoral research fellow will carry out the following tasks within the scope of the Crafts and Craftsmen of Ornamentation and Book Binding project developed within the framework of the protocol signed between the IELT and the Historical Archive of Lisbon City Council. 1) research of book catalogs published by booksellers, printers and libraries in Lisbon in the 18th and 19th centuries; 2) elaboration of a list of references of the mentioned catalogs destined to the digital platform that is preparing for the availability of results; 3) research on book craftsmen in Lisbon in the 18th and 19th centuries and preparation of a list organized by the different types of crafts around the book; 4) submission to indexed journals of one article/ every 4 months on the subject of study; 4) organization of an Open Seminar in collaboration with the person in charge of the project with a view to disseminating the results.

 

Duration of the fellowship: the fellowship will last for 4 months, starting in October 2023. The fellowship contract may be renewable.

 

Application submission deadline: The call for the scholarship is open from July 25th to August 14th 2023.

• PhD degree certificate;

• In the case of academic degrees obtained in foreign higher education institutions, it is necessary to present the recognition of the degrees obtained, in accordance with DL No. 66/2018, of 16 August; or, in the absence of recognition at the time of candidacy, a declaration under an honorary commitment that this recognition will be made prior to contracting the Scholarship, in case of being the selected candidate. However, it is mandatory to present the acknowledgement up to the moment of contracting the scholarship.

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: the amount of the scholarship corresponds to € 1,741, according to the table of values of scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). To this amount is added the voluntary social insurance corresponding to the first level, in case the candidate opts for its attribution, as well as the personal accident insurance.

 

Workplace: The work will be developed at the Institute for the Study of Literature and Tradition (IELT).
