The Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa) opens a call for applications for 1 (one) PhD Student Research Grant, within the scope of the research project "VAX.TRUST - Addressing vaccine hesitancy in Europe", funded by the European Commission (ID: SC1-BHC-33-2020) and by own funds, coordinated by Dr Ana Patrícia Hilário, at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

Under the coordination of the project PI, the grantee will perform the following tasks:
a) processing and analysing qualitative and quantitative data;
b) participating in scientific events;
c) co-authoring reports or other project outputs in English and Portuguese.
Candidates should possess as mandatory requirements:
a) Master's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology or other areas of Social Sciences;
b) Enrolment in a PhD programme in Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology or other areas of Social Sciences.
Candidates should have the following preferential requirements:
a) Written and spoken command of English and Portuguese;
b) Experience in processing and analysing qualitative and quantitative data;
c) Interest in the field of health

Research Grants Regulations of the University of Lisbon, approved by Order no. 6238/2020 published in Diário da República, 2.ª série, no. 113, of 12 June, amended by Order no. 8061/2022, published in Diário da República, 2. ª série, no. 126, of 1 July and, alternatively, the Research Grants Regulation of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT, I.P.), Regulation no. 950/2019, Diário da República, 2.ª série, no. 241, of 16 December.
Workplace: Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon.
Scientific Orientation: Dr. Ana Patrícia Hilário, responsible for the project under which the present call for proposals is open.
Duration of the grant: The scholarship will last for 6 months.
Amount of monthly maintenance allowance and Social Security:
The monthly maintenance allowance amounts to €1,199.64 (one thousand one hundred and ninety-nine euros and sixty-four cents), paid monthly by bank transfer.
The grant holder to be hired may exercise his/her right to social security by joining the voluntary social security scheme, under the terms foreseen in the Research Grant Holder Statute, with ICS-ULisboa assuming the charges resulting from the contributions foreseen in that Statute.
Selection methods and their evaluation:
The applicable selection methods will be:
a) curricular evaluation;
b) a motivation letter, in which the candidate explains how his/her profile can contribute to the project;
c) selection interview.
The selection interview will be held for the three candidates with the best marks in the curricular evaluation, with a mark equal to or higher than 4,5 points.
The selection of the candidates will be made according to the terms of reference expressed in No. 2 of this announcement, considering
a) Curriculum evaluation, in view of the project objectives and the specific nature of the research work to be developed, valued from 1 to 10 points (50%);
b) Proven experience, considering the specific tasks to be performed in the project, valued at 1 to 10 points (20%);
c) Letter of Motivation, referred to in 13.2, paragraph c), valued at 1 to 10 points (10%);
d) Other factors considered relevant, namely publications considered relevant in the context of the project, valued at 1 to 10 points (10%);
e) Selection interview to evaluate professional and behavioural competences, valued at 1 to 10 points (10%).
Composition of the Selection Board: Dr Ana Patrícia Hilário (President), Dr Fábio Rafael Augusto (1st Effective Member), who will replace the President in her absences and impediments), Dr Ana Sofia Ribeiro (2nd Effective Member), Dr Pedro Alcântara da Silva (1st Alternate Member), Dr Joana Mendonça (2nd Alternate Member).
Formalization and processing of applications:

The applications shall be accompanied, under penalty of exclusion, with the following documents, no document, which should be submitted at the time of application, may be presented after the deadline for its presentation:

b) Detailed and updated Curriculum Vitae;
c) Letter of Motivation justifying the interest in the research project and the skills with which you think you can contribute to the project;
d) Proof of PhD enrolment;
e) Document(s) proving that the candidate fulfils the conditions required for the type of scholarship, namely certificate(s) of qualifications of the required academic degree(s), with final average, or proof that he/she has already applied for the respective certificate(s);
f) If the Master's degree, required in this Call for Proposals as an admission requirement, was obtained abroad, you must submit one of the following documents: - Document proving the granting, by a Portuguese Institution, of recognition or equivalence or registration of the academic degree; or - Document proving that you have already applied for recognition of the degree, which application must be submitted up to and including the deadline for receipt of applications;
g) The presentation of the proof of obtaining the recognition or equivalence or registration of the academic degree is a mandatory condition for the signature of the contract;
h) For academic degrees obtained in foreign countries, which have not yet obtained either the recognition or the equivalence or the registration of the degree, it is necessary to recognize it, under the terms foreseen in Decree Law no. 66/2018, of August 16, combined with Ordinance no. 33/2019, of January 25.
