Call for a Research Scholarship - BI-Mestre-SMART_E-02/2023

Call is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Grant under the project SMART-E - 2022.04012.PTDC “Multi-sensing SMART battery Electrodes concept for in-situ operation monitoring”, for the development of R&D activities to be carried out by PhD students or graduates and masters enrolled in non-academic degree courses, financed “Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P.”, under the following conditions:

Recipient admission requirements /Profile:

1. be graduates enrolled in academic degree course;
2. Not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, an accumulated period of 2 (two) years, consecutive or interspersed, if is a master enrolled in a non-academic degree course, or of 4 (four) years if enrolled in a Doctorate;
3. have training in the areas of Materials Engineering, Micro and Nanotechnologies Engineering, Physics Engineering, or other related areas that have given the candidate experience in the preparation energy harvesting and storage devices

Candidates who have obtained the degree abroad must have the degree recognized in Portugal, pursuant to Decree-Law No. 66/2018 of August 16.

Work plan: The candidate will develop research work performing the following tasks with the following objectives:

a) Development of nanostructured materials (nanoparticles and 2D) for energy harvesting and energy storage systems (fiber based or planar)

b) Deposition of materials by electrodeposition and CVD techniques.

c) Optical and morphological characterization of developed material

d) Characterization of energy storage and energy harvesting devices

e) Preparation of reports and scientific papers based on the work described above.

It is subsidiarily applicable the Regulation of UNINOVA Research Grants, approved by deliberation of the Board of Directors of the FCT-Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, in the meeting of March 2 of 2022.

Workplace: Thework will be carried out at UNINOVA’s facilities, in other facilities located on the FCT/NOVA Campus and/or in other facilities that may be necessary for its execution, under the scientific guidance of Dr. Luís Pereira. UNINOVA will be the contracting entity.

Duration of the grant: The fellowship will have an estimated duration of 5 (five) months, until December 31, 2023, possibly renewable within the duration of the project, as long as it does not exceed the period mentioned in point b) of the admission requirements and is scheduled to begin in July 2023.
