Offer Description

The main goal of the project is is to assess the hydrogeological and hydro-bio-geo-chemical viability of inducing in-situ groundwater denitrification in the coastal area of aquifers discharging to lagoons, as a complementary tool to decrease the input of nutrients to the lagoons through groundwater seepage, and to support the ecological preservation or recovering of these lagoons, which usually are highly affected by human pressures. Additionally, this project will also verify the degree in which these N-attenuating actions also reduce the concentration of selected emerging contaminants (ECs) associated with nitrate pollution.

The tasks to be performed will be to support design and implementation of technical development activities and field-scale technical validation of technological solutions for groundwater pollution remediation by nitrate.

Specific tasks:

Implementation of project tasks (sampling, analysis, deliverables…).

Coordination and design of laboratory experiments.

Stable isotope analysis of different elements and compounds.

Correction of analytical results and preparation of analytical reports.

Interpretation of results and drafting of interpretation reports, project justification report, and scientific publications.
