1. Scientific Area: Materials Science and Engineering, Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering, Physics or related fields.

2. Recipients profile/category:

Mandatory requirements: Candidates should present a Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering, Physics, or related fields. Desired technical skills include (i) experience in the fabrication and optimization of nanomaterial-based inks, particularly two-dimensional (2D) materials, (ii) printing electronic devices, and (iii) device characterization. Candidates are also expected to be fluent in English (oral and written). Other necessary requirements: the candidates should be enrolled in a PhD program in Microelectronics and Nanotechnology, or a non-degree awarding course. At the application time, this document can be replaced by a declaration on honour stating eligibility to enrol in one.

For academic degrees conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it is mandatory to present the register of the recognition of the academic degree and the conversion of the final classification to the Portuguese scale, or alternatively, to obtain the equivalence/ recognition of the academic degrees.

Preferred factors: Experience in communication, presentation of results and scientific writing will be highly valued. Cleanroom manufacturing experience will also be considered for candidate selection.

3. Work Plan:

The SUPERIOT project aims to explore the fabrication of supercapacitors, memristores and sensors on flexible substrates using printing or thin film deposition methods that may represent a more susitainable alternative to conventional electronics. The selected candidate will work closely with other team members to synthesize metal oxide nanostructures and implement them in interdigitated electrodes to fabricate resistive UV sensors and micro supercapacitors. Also, part of the work plan is the optimization of nanostructure deposition methods and the fabrication using physical vapor deposition methods to be used as reference devices in the project.

4. Applicable legislation and regulations:

Law No. 40/2004, of August 18, amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of August 27 (Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow) and amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of October 29, by Law No. 12 /2013 of 29 January, by Decree-Law No. 89/2013, of 9 July and Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of 28 August; Regulation of Research Grants of NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force (https://files.dre.pt/2s/2019/12/241000000/0009100105.pdf).
