Offer Description
UNINOVA – Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias, by decision of the Executive Committee, opens an international call to hire a Researcher, in the form of an Unfixed-Term Contract and in exclusivity under the Research Project “Fully Oxide-based Zero-Emission and Portable Energy Supply” (FOXES, Grant Agreement 951774) funded by the H2020 Programme from the European Commission and under the scientific coordination of Professor Rodrigo Ferrão de Paiva Martins, PhD.
Admission Requirements/Profile of the Candidate:
Applicants may be any Portuguese national, foreign or stateless, holders of a PhD degree in Materials Engineering, Nanotechnologies and Nanosciences, Physics, Chemistry or similar areas, duly registered and/or recognized in Portugal and that holds the following requirements:
- Experience in solution processing of oxide thin films, including ink formulation and deposition by spin-coating and/or printing techniques;
- Solid knowledge on nanoimprint technology and lithographic processes;
- Fluency in English (writing, understanding and speaking);
- Grade recognition in Portugal, in case the grade was awarded by a Foreign Institution (this element is required before the contractualisation stage, and can be replaced during the application stage by a declaration of honor through which the candidate states they will obtain the recognition, in case they are selected during this call).
Applicable legislation:
- Portuguese Labor Code, approved by Law nº 7/2009, of February 12th, in its current version.
- Administrative Procedure Code, as republished in Decree-Law nº 4/2015, from 7th January in its current version (CPA).
Work Plan Activities:
The work falls within the scope of the research activities of UNINOVA including:
- Establish a nanoimprint lithography process at UNINOVA to achieve sub-100 nm resolution in resist, using a SUSS substrate conformable imprint lithography (SCIL) setup already installed;
- Adapt the nanoimprint process mentioned above to enable direct nanoimprint of functional metal and oxide layers, with at least sub-800 nm resolution, on glass and polymeric substrates;
- Train researchers within the group in the processes mentioned above;
- Support assembly of prototypes with project partners;
- Participate in regular technical meetings with project partners;
- Leadership and collaboration in the realisation of scientific articles related to the work carried out in the areas mentioned above, to be published in international scientific magazines and conferences of recognized quality;
- Support for conferences, workshops and training courses at national, European and international levels.
Start Date and Workplace:
The employment contract will tentatively start in June/July 2023 and will last only for the period of execution necessary for the work plan described above, which is estimated to have a duration of 15 months.

Additional Information
Monthly Remuneration:
Remuneration will be in accordance with salary level 37 of the Single Remuneration Table, € 2 438.64, approved by Ordinance No. 1553-C / 2008, of December 31 and updated by Decree-Law No. 10-B / 2020, of March 23 and by the Decree-Law No. 109-A/2021, of December 7th.

Evaluation Criteria:
The admitted applications will be evaluated considering the quality, timeliness and relevance of the scientific path (scientific production and research experience) and curriculum of each candidate and their adequacy to the proposed work plan, according to Article nº 5 of the RJEC. The classification is expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 20 points.
Candidates are evaluated in two phases:
- First phase: Curriculum Analysis (85%) and Motivation Letter (15%) – The curriculum will be qualitatively analysed concerning its content and relevance for the tasks to be performed, namely: executed and published work, with special emphasis on areas related to the work plan (35%); research experience and relevant knowledge in the skills indicated in the candidate profile (50%). Based on the motivation letter it will be evaluated the motivation and interest for the activities to be performed (10%) and command of the English language (5%).
- Second stage: The jury will select for the interview the 5 candidates who obtained in the first phase the highest ranking, with a minimum of 15 points, or the number of candidates, up to 5, who obtained in the first phase a minimum rating of 15 points. The interview can be conducted remotely.
The final classification will have a 70% weight from the first phase (CV and motivation letter) and a 30% weight from second phase (interview).
The jury shall deliberate by means of a roll-call vote based on the selection criteria. In the event of a tie, the decision will be the responsibility of the chairman of the jury.
After evaluation of all admitted applications, the jury will write a meeting minute with all process of recruitment, evaluation and selection including an ordered short list of approved candidates and their respective classification and final decision of the jury.
The final decision of the jury shall be validated by the Head of the Institution, who is also in charge of deciding about the hiring.
Form of advertising/notification of results: The results of the evaluation are disclosed within 60 working days from the end of the application submission period, by notification of the candidates, made by email.
The results will be also published on the UNINOVA website.
Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline:
After communicating the provisional list of the results of the evaluation, the candidates havea period of 10 working days to express their opinion during a prior hearing of interested parties, pursuant to articles 121 et seq. of the Code of Administrative Procedure.
The final decision will be rendered after the analysis of the statements presented during a prior hearing of interested parties. A complaint may be filed against the final decision within 15 working days, or, alternatively, an appeal may be filed within 30 working days, both counting from the respective notification.
