Offer Description

Work Plan:

The work to be carried out under this fellowship consists of evaluating the reinnervation of a skin substitute in vitro using neurons derived from SH-SY5Y cells. The skin substitute consists of a scaffold loaded with a drug and is seeded with fibroblasts and keratinocytes isolated from human skin explants.

Workplace:

The work will be developed in the Tissue Engineering Laboratory at Physics Department from NOVA School of Science and Technology – Universidade NOVA de Lisboa under scientific supervision of Doctor Tânia Vieira, the contracting entity being NOVA.id.FCT – Associação para Inovação e Desenvolvimento da FCT.

Fellowship duration:

The scholarship will last for 6 months, starting in July 2023. The scholarship contract may be renewed within the project term.

Recipients profile/category:

Mandatory requirements:

Master’s in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related fields. Candidates holding a Master's degree must be enrolled in a doctorate or in a course that does not lead to an academic degree as part of an educational project of a Higher Education Institution. The documents proving this situation must be presented, at the latest, up to the stage of contracting the grant, before that they may be replaced by a declaration of honor.

Preferred factors:

Preference will be given to candidates with training and research experience in Biomaterials

and Tissue Engineering.

Monthly maintenance allowance amount:

The amount of the scholarship corresponds to € 1 199,64 basedon the table of values for scholarships awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country, payment being made monthly by bank transfer.

The selection methods to be used will be as follows:



The selection process for the candidate to be hired is carried out in two stages. The first phase consists of a curriculum evaluation according to the criteria and respective valuation indicated below:



Criterion 1 - Academic training and classification (50%) - Grade from 1 to 20

Criterion 2 - Knowledge and experience in the processing and characterization of biomaterials for applications in

tissue engineering and animal cell culture (30%) - Grade from 1 to 20

Criterion 3 - Other curricular components, namely experience in writing and presenting scientific papers and

fluency in English (20%) - Grade from 1 to 20

Candidates ranked in the first 3 places in the first phase will pass to the second phase, which consists of an interview, provided they have obtained a classification above 70% in the first phase. The final ranking will be based on a valuation of 40% for the interview and 60% for the curriculum evaluation.

Form of advertising/notification of results:



The evaluation results proposed by the jury will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list.

After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board through the address coord1@novaidfct.pt.
