Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry PAS invites applications for two PhD positions in the Surface Nanostructures group. The PhD students will work in the newly formed research team that will realize the research project: ‘’Topology meets magnetism: Sn-containing compounds for magnetization-driven topological phase transitions (TopoTin)” founded by the Polish National Research Center NCN within Sonata Bis programme. Within the project, thin film intermetallic compounds of Sn and Fe will be created by the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and their electronic and magnetic properties will be studied. Both students will be preparing samples using molecular beam epitaxy under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. One of the students (PhD_1) will focus on the investigations of the electronic properties using angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES), while the other student (PhD_2) will focus on the characterization of the magnetic properties using magnetooptical Kerr effect (MOKE) and magnetic force microscopy (MFM).
The PhD students will be responsible for data analysis and presentation of the research results during international conferences and in the form of research papers.
