A PUBLIC UNIVERSITY INTENSIVE IN RESEARCH AND COMMITTED TO TEACHING INNOVATION

The Department of Humanities, Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, invites applications for a 5-year tenure track position in Digital Humanities.
Area of Specialization: Digital Humanities (Research & Teaching in any Humanities field –Art & Art History; History & Archaeology; Literature & Cultural Studies; Philosophy– with intense use of digital tools).
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- They must show demonstrable experience in the acquisition of fellowships and/or research projects.
- They must prove ability in establishing national and international collaborative research networks.
- They must have a strong record of publications and have also teaching experience in the field of Digital Humanities (Research & Teaching in any Humanities field –Art & Art History; History & Archaeology; Literature & Cultural Studies; Philosophy– with intense use of digital tools).
The selected researcher will be expected to:
- Join the faculty team.
- Teach in UPF's Global Studies and Humanities undergraduate programmes (BA) and, also, in the Department's MA & Doctoral programmes.
- Take part in the Department’s research activities.
- Hold management positions.
- A very good command of English, and Catalan and/or Spanish, is essential. Good command of three UPF official languages (Catalan, Spanish, English) will be an asset. Knowledge of other languages would also be an asset.
This position is ruled by the Agreement of the Board of Governors of the 6th of July 2016 on the system for attracting and retaining talent. Short-listed applicants will be invited to deliver a public seminar and interviewed by the selection commitee and faculty members.
RESEARCH FIELD
Digital Humanities (Research in any Humanities field –Art & Art History; History & Archaeology; Literature & Cultural Studies; Philosophy– with intense use of digital tools).
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- The applicant must hold a PhD in any field related to Humanities: Art & Art History; History & Archaeology; Literature & Cultural Studies; Philosophy; etc.
- If the PhD was issued by UPF, the applicant will need to have been contractually separated from the institution for at least two years since earning the PhD.
- Languages: English and Catalan and/or Spanish.
BENEFITS
Salary (per year): 44.310,92 €
The position involves a five-year fixed-term contract. One year before the contract expires, the Tenure-Track researcher will be assessed by a Department’s Committee. The outcome will determine whether the Tenure Track researcher is recommended to stay in the position as a permanent researcher or whether the contract will be terminated at the end of the fifth year.

- A brief description of the Research Project the applicant will carry out during the five years of the Tenure-Track contract (5 to 10 pages).
Schedule
Submission of applications: the application must be submitted no later than June 21, 2023 (11.59 PM CET).
Incorporation of successful candidate: September to October, 2023.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
One year before the contract expires, the candidate will be assessed by the Department’s Teaching Staff Committee. The outcome will determine whether the candidate is recommended to stay in the position as a permanent researcher or whether the contract will be terminated at the end of the year. In the event of a negative assessment, the candidate will have a further year on the contract prior to its expiry.
Candidates receiving a positive assessment will have one year in order to secure accreditation from the Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU Catalunya or the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency) in order to be eligible to fill a permanent post.
